Display
2.1 Introduction
Thischapter providesinformationand instructionsto get youstartedusing
yourdisplay.It will helpyouto become familiarwith thedisplayand the
functionsof thecontrolsbeforeyou startusingthe unit.Moredetailed
information on operatingthe radardisplay is providedin Chapter 3and
Chapter 4.Chartplotter operating detailsaregiven in Chapter 5and
Chapter 6.
Conventions Used
Throughoutthis handbook,the dedicated(labelled)keysare shown in bold
capitals; for example, MENU.Thesoftkey functions,menu namesand
optionsareshowninnormalcapitals;forexample,SCREEN.
Operatingprocedures,whichmayconsist ofa singlekey-pressor a sequence
ofnumberedsteps,are indicatedby a➤ symbolinthemargin.
Whentheprocedurerequiresyoutopressasoftkey,thesoftkeyiconisshown
in the margin.
Simulator
Thedisplayunitincludesa simulatorfunction,thatallowsyoutopractice
operating yourradarorChartplotter withoutdata fromthe scanner or GPS
system.You will needto use the set upoptionsto switchthedisplayto
simulatormode,as describedin Section 2.2. You can use it in either of two
ways:
• Beforethe displayunithasbeeninstalled on yourvessel.In this case,you
onlyneedto connectthedisplaytoa12V or24V DC powersupply, con-
nectingtheredcorefrom the powerleadtopositive(+)and theblackcore
tonegative(-).See Chapter 8forfulldetails.
• Afterthedisplayhasbeeninstalled onyourvessel,butwhile inthemarina
oratanchor.

radarand chartimages.
