INTENDED USE
Thedisplayunits detailed in thishandbookmayformpartofnavigational
radarsystems intendedforlightmarine use.Thesedisplays and radar
systems are only an aid to navigation.
SAFETY NOTICES
Thisradarequipmentmust be installedandoperated in accordancewiththe
instructions containedinthismanual. Failuretodosocanresultinpersonal
injuryand/or navigationalinaccuracies.Inparticular:
1.HIGHVOLTAGE.TheLCDdisplayunitandscannerunitcontain
highvoltages.Adjustmentsrequire specializedserviceproceduresand
toolsonly availableto qualifiedservicetechnicians– thereareno user
serviceable parts or adjustments.The operatorshouldneverremove the
displayunitcoverorattempttoservicethe equipment.
2.ELECTROMAGNETICENERGY.Theradar scannertransmits
electromagneticenergy.It is importantthat the radaristurnedoffwhenever
personnelarerequired tocomeclose to thescannerto performwork on the
scannerassemblyor associatedequipment.
Itisrecommendedthattheradarscannerismountedoutofrangeofpersonnel
(abovehead height).
Avoidlookingdirectlyattheantennaasyoureyesarethemostsensitivepartof
thebody to electromagnetic energy.
Whenproperlyinstalledandoperated,theuseofthisradarwillconformtothe
requirements of ANSI/IEEEC95.1-1992Standard forSafetyLevels with
RespecttoHumanExposuretoRadioFrequencyElectromagneticFields,3Hz
to300GHzandNRPB,BoardStatementonRestrictionsonHumanExposure
toStaticandTimeVaryingElectromagneticFieldsandRadiation.DocNRPB,
N0.5 (1993).
4.NAVIGATIONAID.Thisunitisonlyanaidtonavigation.Itsaccuracycan
beaffectedbymany factors,includingequipmentfailureor defects,
environmental conditions,and improper handlingor use. It isthe user’s
responsibilitytoexercisecommonprudenceand navigationaljudgements.
Thisradarunitshouldnot berelieduponasasubstituteforsuchprudenceand
judgement.
